EventCity Expands Team

Manchester’s largest events venue, EventCity (28,000 sq.m.), has announced several new appointments as it repositions its offering to the exhibition and event industry, and strives to become the venue of choice for large scale events.

The flexible blank canvas venue, located in Manchester’s TRAFFORDCITY, has hired both marketing and sales specialists from across the industry. Leading the team is Simon Jones (pictured left), who has been appointed as Sales and marketing director. With extensive experience, Jones joins from Butlins Conference & Events, where he held the role of national sales manager for over five years.

Jones commented: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity by EventCity & The Peel Group to drive their sales and marketing initiative. I’m excited by the prospect of working alongside our fantastic team to put EventCity and Manchester firmly on the events map. I have a superb team working with me, each as enthusiastic as myself. “

Jones continued: “Within our short time working together we have already secured a raft of new business wins in the exhibition, sport and conference sectors.

With the likes of The Outdoor Show, The Roller Derby World Cup, Mums Enterprise Roadshow and large-scale conferences for global restaurateurs and national financial organisations, plus much more interest and new business in the pipeline.”

In charge of business development, Rebecca Towell, an experienced account manager, joins EventCity from The NEC, Birmingham.

Towell will be responsible for sourcing and securing new business, targeting both the corporate and agent sectors, regionally and nationally.

With previous experience in venue finding during her time at Vista Limited (formally Logistik), where she managed the venue finding department, Towell is well versed in understanding client’s needs and delivering.

Charlotte Lavin, appointed as sales executive, is another new starter at EventCity.

With experience in sales from Levy Restaurants UK and event coordination from Marriot Hotels, she’ll support the venue’s wider efforts in leveraging their USPs to secure future business wins for EventCity.
