Until next year EventCity…
Manchester welcomed Childcare Expo with open furry arms last week at EventCity and what a show it was. The Northern visitors came in their thousands through the doors as Dave Benson Phillips, children’s 90s TV legend cut the ribbon to kick off the event.
The visitors had the privilege of being in the company of some very special guests as award-winning author Alistair Bryce-Clegg arrived for a book signing whilst he shared his experience of working in the early years and answered questions from his many fans who queued up to meet him. Tim Perkins, former Marvel Comics and DC artist, spent two days sharing his latest creations of comics and inspiring artists of all ages to draw until their hearts content.
Dave Benson Phillips had everyone clapping, shouting and signing the popular nursery rhymes through his Makaton workshops. The crowd could be heard from across the show and put smiles on many faces as they met their childhood hero. TTS returned with yet another incredible learning location and had both adults and children playing in the sandpit to see what they could discover hiding in the midst.
Whilst all the commotion was happening, educational seminars were active across the two days with the popular Gail Ryder Richardson returning for the second time this year to discuss improving outdoor provisions along with Di Chilvers sold out seminar which went into the detail of mapping children’s progress through EYFS.
Preparations and plans are in full swing for the next event at the Ricoh Arena on 30th September - 1st October with hundreds already registering their interest. Childcare Expo Midlands will host an impressive line-up of thought leaders hosting enlightening seminars covering hot topics about Forest Schools in urban settings and effective ideas to support development of early language and communication. If you are looking to boost child development through the outdoors or increasing interaction with stories, then the hands on workshops are not to be missed.
A big thank you goes to everyone involved, from exhibitors, to visitors and sponsors along with the incredible staff working at EventCity. The events have been running since 2010 and have grown from strength to strength and the continued support has allowed to make Childcare Expo Manchester a reality.
