It’s the first time EventCity’s location opposite intu Trafford Centre has been given a dedicated destination brand name that will firmly place it on the national map.
As well as intu Trafford Centre, Trafford City encompasses the surrounding 3.5 million square feet of retail, leisure and commercial space that includes some of the most successful and high profile leisure brands in the UK such as Play Factore, David Lloyd and DW Sports. The destination currently employs 16,500 people and attracts 44 million visitors a year.
Due to the growing number of leisure and business visitors travelling from beyond the region the current number of 750 hotel bedrooms across Trafford City is set increase at least two-fold as part of the masterplan for the area.
Managing Director of Event City Andy Orr said: “We’re delighted by the news that a new hotel is in the pipeline as it will be a great advantage for our exhibitors and visitors alike who travel from beyond the region. The fact we can now also market ourselves as based within Trafford City will really help to earmark us on the national map. By working with our neighbouring attractions within The Trafford City destination we can create a really powerful proposition.”
“Other major exhibition centres are currently developing mixed leisure and retail offers as part of the attraction of their venues – but what we have on offer at Trafford City is world class and it’s clear that Event City is well ahead of the game.”
The new hotel is the result of a new joint venture between Topland Group, Marick Real Estate and Mill Lane Estates.
